Surveys always proliferate on Rainy Days

I'm only doing this because I'm home from work sick. So here ya go :
You've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with the ABC's of YOU. At the end, choose 26 people to be tagged. You have to tag me so really you just need 25 more people. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you - but not in a creepy stalker kind of way.

(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your ABC's of Me, tag 26 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.)

A - Age: 22

B - Bed size: Full size (really, nothing bigger will fit in this apartment, but it's a gorgeous antique)

C - Chore you hate: Washing the dishes. (I want a dishwasher SO bad!)

D - Dog's name: My parents just got one, Bonnie. It's obnoxious.

E - Essential start your day item: Coffee. Although I don't drink as much as I used to.

F - Favorite color: Silver

G - Gold or Silver: Silver

H - Height: 5'4"

I - Instruments you play(ed): My mom tried to teach me piano as a kid. Didn't much work.

J - Job title: ESL teacher (hopefully temp worker over the summer)

K - Kid(s): 36. Oh, you mean at home? None, I can't even fit a bigger bed in this apartment.

L - Living arrangements: One bedroom, One bathroom, One closet, no dishwasher or w/d, 650 sq ft, shared with my fantastic husband (who often washes the dishes)

M - Mom's name: Kathy

N - Nicknames: Laura Carrot

O - Overnight hospital stay other than giving birth: no

P - Pet Peeve: Failure to think logically. Ridiculous naivete (see: Obama Supporters, "He's going to fix everything and life will be happy and there will be rainbows in my backyard with puppies playing around them). Use of the words "Supposably" "Axe" in the place of "ask", "Pop" and the latest "drownded"

Q - Quote from a movie: I recently put up a bunch of Bill and Teds, see those because I'm too tired to think of another one.

R - Right or left handed: Right

S - Siblings: Little sis and lil brudder

T - Time you wake up: A las 5 de la manana.

U- Unconscious, have you ever been knocked out or fainted: I've never been "knocked out", but I've fainted, when they've pricked me at the plasma place, and in school as a kid, I'm sure some other times.

V - Vegetable you dislike: Onion. I know, it's weird.

W - Ways you run late: Sitting at breakfast too lunch, redlights, crazy people driving on 24.

X - X-rays you've had: A few chest x-rays.

Y - Yummy food you make: I've been making cakes and desserts for 10 years, so I have a dark chocolate cake, churros, gulab jamun, lemon soaked berry cupcakes with whipped cream, also some really food like insalata caprese, carne asada tacos, fried okra, garlic green beans - okay I'll stop, but seriously, everyone, just go to Epicurious.com and learn to make at least ONE thing really well

Z- Zoo, favorite animal: The Zoo: A day of walking around, avoiding strollers and smelling animal poo. People pay for this?

Why Not? It's spring break, I'm procrastinating some sewing...

RETURN DIRECTIONS: Now, here's what you're supposed to do...copy/paste this into a new note. Then, delete my answers and type in your answers. Tag a whole bunch of people you know, INCLUDING the person who sent it to you. The theory is that you will learn a lot of little known facts about those you know.

Four previous jobs I've had in my life: (Last count was 17 so I will have to be picky)
1. Waitress at the Cracker Barrel. Ho, yeah.
2. Admin Assistant at Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham. Don't even try any predatory lending while I'm around.
3. Run my own cake making/decorating business. (I'll get that up again when I move to an apartment with an actual kitchen complete with dishwasher)
4. The Limited Too. I try not to talk about it.

Four movies I've watched more than once:
1. La Ciudad. It is the best movie I have seen I think. Go rent it from the library.
2. Invasion of the Body Snatchers. 1956 version.
3. Gone with the wind.
4. Spanglish. What can I say, it's my language.

Four places I have lived:
1. Dallas, TX.
2. Slate Hill, NY.
3. Birmingham, AL.
4. West Nashville, TN

Four places I have been:
1. Oaxaca, Mexico.
2. New York City.
3. Guatemala City, Guatemala.
4. Belize.

Four Favorite drinks
1. Coffee. Dark coffee.
2. Dr. Pepper (I am from Texas.)
3. Margarita or Mojito - can't decide which is better.
4. Jarritos.

People who email me regularly:
1. My Points Bonus Mail.
2. Mom
3. My Principal.
4. Nashville Public Library (aka, libcirc)

Four of your favorite foods: (Just 4?)
1. Tamales. Hands down.
2. Cannoli.
3. Pad Thai.
4. Naan.

Four places I would rather be right now:
1. Yuma, Arizona. Sunniest place on earth.
2. Peacefully asleep.
3. Mexico, minus the drug wars.
4. Tejas.

Four things I am looking forward to this year:
1. Getting a regular paycheck, woohoo!
2. Finishing my first year of teaching.
3. One year anniversary with my husband.
4. Moving out of this apartment! (3.5 months left on my lease!)

Four TV shows that I watch: (when I haven't given TV up for lent)
1. Chuck
2. C.S.I. and other knockoffs
3. The Office
4. Dateline. I know, I'm a nerd, but I love that show.

Four Authors I have enjoyed;
1. Joan Didion
2. Jorge Luis Borges
3. Gabriel Garcia Marquez
4. Isaiah/God.

Excerpts From Stephen Herek's 1989 Work

Hi. Welcome to the future. San Dimas, California, 2688. And I'm telling you, it's great here. The air is clean. The water's clean. Even the dirt... is clean. Bowling averages are way up. Mini-golf scores are way down. And we have more excellent waterslides than any other planet we communicate with. I'm telling you, this place is great. But it almost wasn't. You see, 700 years ago the Two Great Ones ran into a few problems. So now I have to travel back in time to help them out. If I should fail to keep these two on the correct path, the basis of our society will be in danger. Don't worry. It'll all make sense. I'm a professional.

Ted
: Dude, are you sure we should be doing this?
Bill: Ted, you and I have witnessed many things, but nothing as bodacious as what just happened. Besides, we told ourselves to listen to this guy.
Ted: What if we were lying?
Bill: Why would we lie to ourselves?

Bill: Ted, while I agree that, in time, our band will be most triumphant. The truth is, Wyld Stallyns will never be a super band until we have Eddie Van Halen on guitar.
Ted: Yes, Bill. But, I do not believe we will get Eddie Van Halen until we have a triumphant video.
Bill: Ted, it's pointless to have a triumphant video before we even have decent instruments.
Ted: Well, how can we have decent instruments when we don't really even know how to play?
Bill: That is why we NEED Eddie Van Halen!
Ted: And THAT is why we need a triumphant video.
Bill, Ted: EXCELLENT!

Ted: Excuse me. When did the Mongols rule China?
Lady at the Circle K: I don't know. I just work here.

Ted: Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K.

Ted: Want a Twinkie, Genghis Khan?

4. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
5. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
6. I'll ask you something I've always wondered about you.
7. I'll tell you my favorite thing about you.
8. If you play, you MUST post this in a note on your own wall.

Vote against xenophobia in 2009 - vote against "English First" in Nashville!

Vote against xenophobia in 2009 - vote against "English First" in Nashville!

The English First amendment does not protect English, and English does not need protection!

The English First amendment does promote a negative attitude toward speakers of other languages, an environment of xenophobia, and gives Nashville a reputation as ill-educated and racist, something no city in the South needs.

Let your voice be heard!
